Tank
Locates: Goodman provides a courtesy locate for Realtors
(please call for details). A small fee may apply if the site is
outside the Portland Metro area.
When we decommission a tank in place we open, clean and inspect it from the inside for evidence of leaks. We clean the tank from inside because it is the only way to be sure we have removed all of the remaining heat oil and sludge. Then the tank is back filled with inert material i.e. (gravel), and the ground cover is restored.
D.E.Q. offers a registration program for decommissioning home heating fuel tanks. The program is voluntary and has some advantages (public registration). Goodman Bros. offers this program with every decommission proposal. For a site to qualify, two representative soil samples from beneath the tank bottom would be collected and the laboratory results would have to indicate less than 50 ppm (if your soil samples should indicate 50ppm or something greater, your decommission will become a release site, possibly necessitating further investigation as well as additional cost).
On average a standard decommission can range between $400.00-$750.00. Soil samples and DEQ decommission registration would be in addition to the decommission cost.
Environmental Cleanup: All sites are bid "Fixed Cost". Goodman will research the property and surrounding properties to determine a fixed cost price. A fixed cost price helps you know exactly what your financial obligation will be. Goodman gathers information of other sites we have completed within your geographic area. This helps us determine the most common pathways of migration at your site. With the information we have gathered from a site visit and/or soil samples, we can accurately bid your project.
All sites are bid on a site specific basis in order to provide you with an accurate bid.
